A solitary purple juvenile mushroom, Amethyst Deceiver, nestled in damp green moss.

Amethyst Deceiver

Taken on a damp morning hunting for fungi in Styal Woods. 

It was perhaps slightly too early in the season for decent results, but it was worth a look as it's so easy to be too late and find all the subjects are a bit the worse for wear.

This tiny fellow was only about an inch tall, and was nestled in the moss on the roots of a beech tree. Obviously a juvenile specimen, I might try and head back in a week or two and see how it's getting on...
