Milky Way over Stanage Edge

I'd seen that the Milky Way would be visible to the south until moonrise, so I decided to add a trip to Stanage Edge to see if I could get a shot from amongst the rocks. What I didn't realise was that my visit would coincide with the Peak District Challenge, involving a number of runners and hikers who would be passing this spot with bright torches.

While it wasn't what I planned, their lights were a huge help in the end, as they provided some excellent light for the foreground!

Having shared this image on social media, I got in contact with Tina from 'Running the Summits' who was part of the event. She's aiming to run 1000 British Summits in 365 Days, raising money for Mountain Rescue England & Wales. We've decided to sell prints of this image in support of both Mountain Rescue and S.A.L.V.E. International (the charity supported by the Peak District Challenge).

We're selling a few sizes of Canvases and Unmounted Photographic Prints, and £2.50 from each item bought will go to the charities.
