Mist on the Heather
I've been wanting to shoot a misty sunrise over some of the Peak District's heather - but to be honest, I fully expected the dry air of the heatwave to put paid to any mist at all.
I decided I'd head out on this morning anyway, setting the alarm for 3:30am. There were some clouds overhead, and as I drove on, there were tantalising patches of low mist on the fields... I didn't dare hope that there would be any when I got to my destination.
But as I walked across the moorlands, I could see more mists forming - and this lone silver birch was ideally positioned looking back towards the colour in the sky.
I can't recall when I was last treated to conditions quite as pretty as this - it's always a joy to see them, but especially so when they were as unexpected as on this morning!
Highly Commended
